ReThink Education

In an Australian school first, Kingswood College is challenging us to โ€˜ReThink Educationโ€™ by leaving behind the blazer and old school tie for an activewear wardrobe by 2XU.

The gender-neutral lifestyle wardrobe consists of breathable polos, compression tights, and lightweight pants and shorts, giving the students a range of combinations to choose from when phased in from the start of the 2021 school year.

Abandoning the old school uniform for more comfortable activewear is a part of Kingswoodโ€™s Future Learning model, a program that recognises the importance of nurturing a studentsโ€™ holistic health in order to support increased capacity to learn. Developed from extensive research, Future Learning removes existing barriers to education and physical activity.

The initiative comes as the World Health Organisation warns more than 89 per cent of young Australians are not getting the recommended daily dose of physical activity.

Kingswood College Principal Elisabeth Lenders said the link between physical, emotional, and mental health is undeniable.

โ€œPoor physical health can lead to an increased risk of developing mental health problems and poor mental health can negatively impact on physical health. The new Kingswood wardrobe will allow kids to be prepared to be physically active at any point in time, not just when itโ€™s timetabled.โ€

The Kingswood partnership is the first of its kind for 2XU, but 2XU Chief Marketing Officer Luke Oโ€™Shea explains it has been embraced by the sportswear brand.

โ€ฏโ€œWhen we met the team at Kingswood, we were inspired by their vision and the positive impact they wished to make on their students but also the wider education system. The team have looked to bring our core performance elements along with key requirements of durability and comfort that has allowed us to develop a truly innovative clothing range for all ages and bodies.โ€

Kingwood Collegeโ€™s cultural focus on health and student wellbeing perfectly aligns with 2XUโ€™s mission to create a fitter and healthier world, and weโ€™re excited to see how the new wardrobe will be adopted by the Kingswood College community.
